Vacation Property Rentals
Do you have questions about our vacation property rentals? We try to answer as many as we can on our website.
Of course, if you still can’t find the answer, we’re only a phone call away. Or use our handy contact form click here. We’ll answer your questions as soon as possible!
Where and what time can we check-in?
We offer two locations for check-in. Directions to one of these locations will be sent to you upon confirmation of final payment. Remember, both offices are not open all the time, so it is important you follow the directions to the correct location. Check-in times are between the hours of 4 pm. If you have given family members directions to the rental property, please remember that we can not allow you or any member of your group, on the rental premises until you have completed the check-in process. Once maintenance and housekeeping have released your home, we will check you in as quickly as possible. Please make sure we have a good working mobile phone to contact you should we be able to accommodate an early check-in.
Remember, our goal is to get you on your way, enjoying your vacation, just as soon as we can.

Where can we purchase groceries and supplies?
Ingles Grocery Store and Deli is located on Hwy. 9 South in Lake Lure just a few hundred yards from LAKE HOUSE restaurant on Memorial Hwy 74. We encourage you to purchase your groceries after you have checked in as we have no refrigeration facilities to offer you should check-in to your home be delayed.
An ABC (Liquor Store) is located on the east side of the beach in downtown Lake Lure.
Do you offer Travel Insurance?
No. You may purchase this coverage from your choice of a variety of insurance providers that can be found online. Pinnacle Sotheby’s International Realty does not recommend or endorse any insurance provider.
Please be aware that if you cancel your reservation, certain restrictions may apply. You must confirm your cancellation request in writing to be eligible to have your week re-rented. If we are successful in re-renting the home, we will return your payment less a cancellation fee of $135.00. If you cancel 60 days or less prior to your stay for one week, or 90 days or less for a holiday stay or more than one week stay, then your deposit is forfeited unless we can re-rent the property.
What if we arrive and don’t like our home?
We strive to make every effort to give full disclosure and representation on the homes we offer. Photograph, maps, reviews and a complete list of amenities are included in our descriptions on our website at pinnaclesir.com. We are not responsible for website content on other sites. Some site “pirate” information of which we have no control. Please carefully review the details of the home. If you have questions, call us at 828.625.9119 BEFORE YOU BOOK.
Our homes may be on sites such as HomeAway or VRBO. Once you enter your email address with these sites, then you must book from these sites. These sites will charge you a fee of which we have no control, nor do we receive that fee. When searching for vacation rentals, we encourage you to do an internet search and avoid these booking sites when possible in order to avoid the extra fees.
Moving to another property would only take place if the property you have rented becomes uninhabitable due to flooding, structure damage, or an irreparable heating or air-conditioning problem.
Why do you charge an administration fee?
A fee of $35.00 plus tax is charged on all reservations. This helps us offset the expense of paperwork, phone and postage. Upon cancellation, the administration fee is not refundable.
Does Lake Lure regulate vacation rentals?
Yes, in October of 2009, Lake Lure passed an ordinance regulating the use of single-family homes as vacation rentals that became effective on January 1, 2010. Anyone who rents a private home, must obtain a permit issued through the Town of Lake Lure.
The ordinance has specific language addressing the number of occupants allowed, fire and safety precautions and specifically address the following:
- No more than the maximum occupancy allowed in a home
- Parking in designated areas and not blocking roadways or driveways
- Refraining from trespassing on neighbor’s property, docks, decks, waterfronts
- When an area burning ban is in effect, bonfires are prohibited. Outdoor fires are only permitted in a place and manner designated.
- Do not swim farther than 50 feet from shore.
- A NC fishing license is required, and all state fishing regulations apply.
- All household waste and trash must be placed in secured outside receptacles.
- Do not approach or feed wildlife, especially bears.
- Unreasonably loud noise is prohibited throughout the Town. Please observe quiet hours after 10pm and be aware that sound carries very far over a still lake.
- Behavior deemed disorderly and causing a disturbance to the public is prohibited.
These regulations are strictly enforced by the Town of Lake Lure.
Do you require a Security Deposit?
Yes. All rental homes require a credit card held on file until after departure with pre-authorization of $1000.00 to cover the cost of damages and/or missing items. If there are no damages or missing items, the card is not charged.
What happens if we have to cancel our reservation?
Cancellations or transfers (including date changes or switching of homes) needs to be made in writing; email is acceptable. For cancellations or transfers within 60 days of arrival, we can not refund any monies unless the original home is re-rented for the entire rental period and prepayment has cleared. We will return payment (less our cancellation fee of $135.00 which includes the $35.00 administrative fee), only if the home can be re-booked. We will make every effort to re-book, however if the home does not re-book, all monies receive will be forfeited. Please note that the earlier cancellation, the more likely the property can be re-rented.
For cancellations or transfers 60 days or ore prior to arrival, all monies will be returned except for the cancellation fee of $135.00 which includes the $35.00 administrative fee.
Can we bring our pet?
Some homes are pet-friendly, some are not. All of us love our pets and travel with them when we can. If you are renting a pet-friendly home and would like to bring one, well-behave dog, you must first let your reservation specialist know when booking. We will need the name of your pet, the breed, and an approximate weight. Only one house-trained dog will be approved. We are sorry, but cats or other animals are not permitted. If you will be bringing a pet, a non-refundable fee of $100.00 plus tax is added to the rental. In addition, a valid credit card is kept on file with pre-authorization for $350.00 for a pet security deposit. If there are no damages or extra cleaning required as result of having your pet, then the card will be not charged.
Please note that pets not prior registered or pets found in homes that do not allow pets will result in a $200.00 unauthorized pet fee and immediate eviction and loss of rent. See NC GS Chapter 42A, 23-24.
Authorized Service Animals are permitted but you must first register prior to occupancy.
Please do not leave your pet in a rental home unattended and don’t forget to vacuum all hair from floor, rugs, etc. prior to check-out. Here are some tips we have picked up over the years to help you and your furry friend have a wonderful vacation.
- Don’t assume our love for canine friends is shared by everyone.
- All dogs should always be controlled by their owner. A leash law is in effect in Lake Lure and at Rumbling Bald Resort.
- Just because you know your pet is friendly doesn’t mean that your neighbor does, or the people you pass when walking your beloved friend.
- Be sure and pick up after your dog. Bags are absolutely necessary, without exception.
- If you pal has a barking problem, he might not be appreciated by the neighbors or the folks across the lake. Please respect the privacy of your neighbors.
- Remember, the next guest staying in this home may not bring a pet and probably won’t take too kindly to hair on furniture and rugs. Just be sure and vacuum really well before check out and look under sofas and beds or chew toys or bones.
- Finally, respect the leash laws. To protect your cherished friend, do not allow him/her to run freely. We have bears, coyotes and other wild animals could cause harm to your dog.
Will our rental home have a grill?
Yes, it’s one of our favorite things to do here in the South and grills in rental properties get a lot of use. It’s really important that you clean the grill thoroughly before you check out. If you don’t, that means that we must pay our staff extra which means you will also be charged.
The fee we charge to clean a grill after your use is $50.00.
If something breaks down while we are in the home, will we get a refund?
While we make every effort to ensure everything is working properly prior to your check in, we can not guarantee that some mechanical failure or other issue may occur while you are in house. We have had some intense summer storms which knocks out A/C, hot tubs, and internet in the past. Things happen in your own home and sometimes they happen in a vacation home. If you notify us immediately and not wait until you check out, then our policy is to do our best to remedy any situation within 24-36 hours. If we are unable to make the necessary repairs, then we will either move you to another home subject to availability, or refund a portion of your stay, based on the circumstances. Rebates for repairs not made within 36 hours will be at the sole discretion of Pinnacle Sotheby’s International Realty Vacation Rentals.
